why drone application?
minimal crop & soil impact
Drone application keeps heavy ground equipment out of the treatment area, eliminating wheel tracks from the application equipment and reducing soil compaction associated with field traffic. This can be especially valuable after crop emergence, following rainfall, or anywhere soft ground makes conventional equipment difficult to operate.
Because the aircraft works above the canopy, treatment can be completed without physically driving through standing crops. For producers, that provides another application option when protecting the condition of the field is just as important as getting the treatment completed.
Precision application
Each application begins with a defined treatment area and planned flight path. Application rate, flight speed, altitude, route spacing, and other operating parameters can be configured around the product, property, and requirements of the job.
Automated flight planning also allows the aircraft to follow repeatable routes across the designated acreage while maintaining controlled application parameters. For irregular fields and complex treatment areas, the mission can be planned around boundaries and obstacles before application begins.
Accessing difficult terrain
Some properties simply are not well suited for conventional application equipment. Wet ground, steep slopes, drainage areas, ponds, brush, irregular field boundaries, fence lines, waterways, and other obstacles can limit where ground equipment can safely or efficiently operate.
Drone application approaches those areas from above, allowing treatment plans to be built around the actual property instead of the limitations of where a machine can travel. This expands application capability across farms, ranches, rights-of-way, aquatic areas, and other challenging properties.
